Introduction

The human foot is designed for weight-bearing and force distribution and is a functional masterpiece for mobility and gait. However, it can also be the root cause of pain and dysfunction. This course, the third of nine in the Gait Analysis and Training Programme, continues to explore important gait deviations, this time travelling down the lower extremities to focus on the lower leg and feet. This course will compare the expected movement patterns of the lower leg and foot with deviant patterns, highlight gait features of the deviant movement, and describe commonly associated pain syndromes.

Aims

This course aims to enrich understanding of important gait deviations associated with lower leg and foot pain syndromes.

This course is made up of videos, reading, forum posts and a final quiz. The course content is split into the following sections:

  1. Video
  2. Reading activity
  3. Quiz

Target audience

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
