Introduction
Burns presentations in conflicts and disasters often reflect those commonly seen in industrial or domestic burns and require a similar management approach. However, in the case of burns following conflict / blast injuries, more complex, combined trauma would be expected. This course will examine the assessment and treatment considerations for burns and highlight some of the common complications and challenges for management seen in disaster and conflict settings.
Aims
This course aims to increase your knowledge of the assessment and treatment of burns in disasters and conflicts, recognising the higher risk of secondary complications, due to factors associated with disrupted health systems and access issues.
Outline
This course is made up of videos, reading activities, forum posts and a final quiz. The course content is split into the following sections:

- Case Study 1: Burns in Disasters and Conflicts
- Case Study 2: Electrical Burn in Disasters and Conflicts
Target audience
This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Doctors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Psychologists, Audiologists, Dietetics, Social Workers. Community Health Workers, Nurses or Medical Doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
