Introduction

Clearing the lumbar spine is an essential skill for every physiotherapist. In some cases, it is easy to determine if the lumbar spine is the cause of a patient's symptoms. However, in other cases, particularly where there are peripheral symptoms and no clear mechanism of injury, it is more difficult. As will be discussed in this course, there are specific features of the subjective and objective assessments that enable clinicians to effectively determine whether these peripheral symptoms are related to the lumbar spine.

Aims

This course aims to enable physiotherapists to effectively clear the lumbar spine when assessing patients with peripheral symptoms.

This course is made up of videos, reading, discussions and a final quiz. The course content is split into the following sections:

  1. Video
  2. Reading activity
  3. Quiz

Great course! I learned a lot from it, and it assisted me in understanding areas of the lumbar spine and lumbar clearance that I had not covered after leaving University. I will put the content to practice in my day-to-day work.
