Introduction
The diaphragm is an extremely versatile muscle. Not only is it the primary breathing muscle, it also plays an important role in trunk stability, balance and gait. Because of its many functions, this muscle should be considered in the assessment and rehabilitation of individuals who have low back pain, balance or gait deficits and those who are post-mechanical ventilation.
