Introduction
The elbow is a complex joint and stability is provided by osseous and soft-tissue constraints. Various ligaments provide stability, but the relative instability of this joint makes it vulnerable to sporting injuries that can involve several of the structures associated with the joint. Apart from the clinical history, clinical reasoning and physical examination are essential to make a diagnosis. In this course, Dr. Ian Gatt discusses the possible causes of elbow pain, as well as some of the clinical tests used to differentiate between possible conditions.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- list at least eight possible causes of elbow pain in an athlete

- describe the relationship between lateral epicondylalgia and the proximal radioulnar joint and humeroradial joint
