Introduction
Rehabilitation medicine has made great strides in the past few decades to contribute to clinical research and improve its use of evidence-based practice. When considering the management of patellofemoral pain, there is now a growing body of evidence that effective training of the quadriceps, in particular the vastus medialis oblique (VMO), can be part of a rehabilitation programme to decrease patellofemoral pain. This course will discuss research which focuses on the role and function of the VMO and explore effective evidence-based quadriceps training techniques to maximise the potential of the VMO patellar control.
