This course is part of a programme:

Introduction

Rehabilitation professionals play an important role in supporting individuals living with cardiorespiratory conditions. They work as part of a cohesive multidisciplinary team to support patients to reduce symptoms of breathlessness, improve airway clearance, pace activities, enhance nutrition, reduce anxiety and more. While each rehabilitation professional has a different role and focus, all team members work towards a common goal of helping improve the quality of life of these patients.

This course examines the role of the rehabilitation team in addressing respiratory symptoms and functional impairments associated with cardiorespiratory conditions. It briefly explores the impact of these conditions on various body systems. It then describes a range of rehabilitation assessment and intervention approaches, focusing on physiotherapy treatment. This information provides healthcare professionals with a solid understanding of what the rehabilitation team can achieve in respiratory rehabilitation.

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • describe the overall impact of chronic breathlessness on function and other body systems
