Introduction

Vision impairment is a global issue, affecting an estimated 2.2 billion people worldwide. Partial or complete vision loss can significantly impact a person's daily life and participation in school, work and social settings. Effective function-based rehabilitation requires healthcare professionals from different disciplines to understand the complex relationship between vision loss and functional independence. Rehabilitation providers play a key role in identifying vision-related functional challenges and implementing appropriate, patient-centred interventions.

This course provides an overview of vision. It introduces the role of different healthcare professionals in supporting people with vision loss, before exploring practical rehabilitation strategies and assistive technology solutions that can foster independence and transform patient outcomes.
