Introduction

Eustachian tube dysfunction can cause persistent and frustrating symptoms—blocked ears, a sensation of being underwater, balance disturbances, tinnitus, and headaches. Physiotherapists can play an important role in managing these symptoms. This course covers the anatomy of the Eustachian tube, the different types of dysfunction, and practical treatment techniques with a focus on the soft and hard palate.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • describe the anatomy and physiology of the Eustachian tube
  • define key signs, symptoms, and contributing factors in Eustachian tube dysfunction
  • discuss physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques for Eustachian tube dysfunction

Target audience

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
