Introduction
Clinical reasoning is the thinking and decision-making process that clinicians develop and refine throughout their careers. Rather than relying on a single strategy, clinicians move between different reasoning strategies, depending on what the situation demands. This course follows clinical reasoning across a full episode of care — from examination to care planning, intervention, and discharge — highlighting which strategies come to the fore at each stage and how they interact in practice.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- discuss the key clinical reasoning strategies used across the examination, planning, intervention, and discharge phases of rehabilitation
- explain how clinical reasoning develops throughout a clinical career, including the role of reflection and interprofessional collaboration
Target audience
This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
