Introduction

Migraine is a common and disabling neurological condition, and a leading cause of disability in adults under 50. Physiotherapists play a meaningful role in its non-pharmacological management, from assessment through to education, exercise, and manual therapy. This course will help you differentiate migraine from other headache types and explore evidence-informed physiotherapy interventions within a biopsychosocial framework.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • describe the clinical features, diagnostic criteria, phases, and differential diagnosis of migraine, including relevant red flags that require medical referral
  • discuss the subjective and objective physiotherapy assessment of a patient with migraine, including relevant screening tools
  • identify non-pharmacological physiotherapy interventions for migraine management, tailored to the patient's current phase

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
