When assessing patients in clinical practice, it is always essential to consider serious pathology as a differential diagnosis. Red flag screening questions were developed to help detect these pathologies, but there is limited evidence to support their use. So how should clinicians be using red flags and how do they know when to take action?
This course aims to provide you with an understanding of red flags and how they can be used effectively in clinical practice.
This course is made up of videos, reading, forum posts and a final quiz. The course content is split into the following sections:
- Reading Activity
This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
Hours of Learning - No deadlines are applied to this course and it can be started and completed in your own time according to your personal schedule. We expect the required elements to take around 1 hour depending on your schedule and learning style. This is a great, and brief course on how we can think about approaching red-flag questions. I recommend this course for anyone willing to learn to identify red-flags in their patients - a very key concept within orthopaedic physiotherapy.
I really enjoyed this course as it was a good review for me, it let me see the most up to date information, and gave me specific tools I can easily use in the clinic. If you have any doubts about your ability to notice a more serious pathology in your back patients, then take this course to increase your confidence and clinical skills.
