Introduction

Healthcare professionals work together in varied team structures — how those teams interact has a significant impact on patient outcomes. Fragmented care, unclear roles, and breakdowns in communication can all worsen outcomes. Effective collaboration, by contrast, improves safety, efficiency, and the patient experience. This programme introduces interprofessional education (IPE) and interprofessional collaborative practice (IPCP). It then examines each domain of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) core competencies framework (values and ethics, roles and responsibilities, communication, and teams and teamwork) through clinical examples relevant to rehabilitation practice.

Target audience

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
