Introduction
Occupational health is a multidisciplinary field of health care focused on the well-being and safety of employees in the workplace. Fulfilling and engaging work provides many benefits to the worker, the employing organisation and society at large. Physical therapists / physiotherapists have a key role to play in this field in both preventing injury, returning individuals to the workplace following disability and also optimising performance in the workplace.
Aims
A series of courses developed by The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE) that provide a comprehensive foundation in topics relevant to practicing in this field.
Outline
This programme is made up of a number courses covering the following topics:
- Introduction to Occupational Health
- The Evidence Base for Occupational Health Interventions
- Assessment of Fitness for Return to Work
Target audience
This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
