We are excited to share a major leap forward in global online continuing education. Physiopedia Plus (Plus) courses now include AI-powered learning activities designed to deepen clinical reasoning, boost engagement and support real-world application of knowledge.
In the first of its kind, the Physiopedia AI Assistant (PAI) is now seamlessly integrated into our online CEU courses, bringing personalised, interactive learning experiences to more than 700 courses on our platform. We have implemented two powerful AI learning features: Knowledge Checks and PAI Activities, and are sharing here how to get the most out of these new learning opportunities.
PAI Knowledge Checks in every Plus course
Every single course on Plus now includes intelligent knowledge checks powered by PAI to support you in checking your understanding and knowledge retention. These aren’t your typical multiple-choice quizzes. They are dynamic, interactive assessments designed to deepen your understanding and encourage practical application of course concepts.
“The knowledge check activity was a great addition to the fall prevention course. I liked being able to test my understanding beyond the quiz.” – Ewa Jaraczewska, Physiotherapist, Poland
Once you have completed a course on Plus, scroll down to the bottom of the Final Activities section of the course to start your knowledge check.

PAI will guide you through four carefully crafted questions to challenge your thinking and broaden the application of knowledge. These interactive assessments go beyond traditional quiz formats, offering learners varied question types where they can explore their answers and give explanations.

The knowledge checks utilise adaptive questioning techniques, allowing learners to engage with content at their own pace whilst receiving immediate guidance on their understanding. Once you have completed the 4 questions, you will also be offered further support in practising your assessment skills to continue your learning. For each interaction, PAI provides detailed feedback and additional points to consider.

This approach supports the retention principles discussed in educational research, where active recall and immediate feedback significantly enhance long-term knowledge retention. PAI also provides comprehensive summaries highlighting individual strengths and areas requiring further review.
PAI Learning Activities in all new Plus courses
All new Plus courses now feature a custom-designed PAI learning activity to translate course content into real-world clinical scenarios.
“The PAI Activity is really neat! It feels like you’re genuinely talking with someone who guides you to explore and deepen your thinking in ways you might not have considered on your own. The interactive approach really helps you uncover insights about your own thought processes.” – Matt Huey, Physical Therapist, United States
These 10–15 minute interactive sessions employ various educational methodologies, including Socratic dialogue for critical thinking development, clinical simulations for decision-making practice, and scenario-based learning for complex professional situations.
The learning activities address diverse clinical challenges that ensure that healthcare professionals can practice applying their knowledge across the full spectrum of situations they may encounter in clinical practice.
PAI learning activities are varied and appropriate to the course content, and may include:
- ethical case scenario analysis
- effective communication simulations
- red flag recognition training
- differential diagnosis practice
- clinical decision-making challenges
- guideline and SOP development
- patient education scenarios
- disaster preparedness planning
- clinical assessment strategy formulation
As you scroll down the course, you will see an optional activity to complete. Click on Start Activity to begin.

You will then be guided through additional questions to challenge your thinking and enhance your understanding of the topic.

You can complete the activity at any time by typing End. PAI will then summarise your clinical reasoning and provide feedback such as your strengths, areas for development and ways to improve your skills.

Early feedback from Plus participants demonstrates the practical value of AI-enhanced learning experiences.
“I often turn to PAI for brainstorming clinical case management. It’s been a game changer for me.” – Ines Musabyemariya, Physiotherapist, Mali
Healthcare professionals report improved clinical reasoning capabilities and enhanced confidence in applying new knowledge to patient care situations.
“The PAI activity really impressed me with its ability to help brainstorm solutions for tricky clinical situations. It provided valuable ideas on collaborating with other professionals and suggested cost-effective ways to bring in additional expertise when needed. If course participants are willing to engage in conversation with PAI, they’ll likely discover fresh approaches to challenges in their own practice environments.” – Wanda van Niekerk, Physiotherapist, South Africa
The integration of AI technology appears particularly effective in supporting the practical application of course content.
“The PAI activity was a helpful tool for developing clinical reasoning in a supportive environment. Working through the case scenario encouraged reflection on red flags, differential diagnoses, and psychosocial factors while also strengthening my understanding of palpation and decision-making in lumbar spine assessment.” – Umamah Ejaz, Physiotherapist, Pakistan Overview of the Lumbar Spine Assessment)
The implementation of PAI across Plus courses represents a significant advancement in personalised continuing education for healthcare professionals. By combining evidence-based educational principles with innovative technology, these AI-enhanced features create learning experiences tailored to individual professional development needs.
This technological integration supports the broader mission of Plus to provide accessible, high-quality continuing education that directly impacts clinical practice. Healthcare professionals can now access learning experiences that adapt to their specific knowledge requirements whilst maintaining the rigorous educational standards that Plus courses are known for.
