Introduction
Gait depends on interactions between the nervous, musculoskeletal, and cardiorespiratory systems and it is affected by our age, personality, mood, and sociocultural factors. Gait involves multiple joints, and joint mobility is a key element in the functioning of proper gait. This course describes the various actions at the joints of the lower limb and the necessary range of motion during each phase of the gait cycle.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- compare the two main phases (stance phase and swing phase) of the gait cycle
- identify the subphases of the stance and swing phases of the gait cycle
- describe the required range of motion at the joints of the lower extremity for gait
- discuss the kinetics during specific phases of the gait cycle

This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Doctors, Nurses, Prosthetists, and Orthotists.

We expect the required elements to take around 1-1.5 hours depending on your schedule and learning style.
