Introduction

Physical activity and exercise are increasingly recognised as effective treatment components for mental health disorders. Growing evidence supports PA programs as adjunctive treatment for depression, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and substance abuse. Research supports clinical PA programs within mental health facilities, facilitated by dedicated clinicians like exercise physiologists and physiotherapists. This course aims to help healthcare professionals understand how physical activity contributes to mental health treatment and develop related practical skills.
