Introduction
The five most common types of chronic wounds include arterial ulcers, venous insufficiency ulcers, neuropathic wounds, pressure injuries, and non-healing surgical wounds. Dana Palmer continues to build on the foundation set in the first course by introducing the learner to the most common types of wounds treated in wound care clinics. This course, the third of seven of the Physiotherapy Wound Care Programme, will discuss the risk factors and identification of neuropathic wounds, pressure injuries and non-healing surgical wounds.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- describe the characteristics of neuropathic wounds
- describe the characteristics of pressure injuries
- describe the characteristics of non-healing surgical wounds
Target audience
This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.

We expect the required elements to take around 1.5-2 hours depending on your schedule and learning style.
