Introduction

Why is it important to talk about injury management in dance? As rehabilitation professionals, we can appreciate the demands placed on the ankles and feet of dancers. However, the approach to assessment and treatment can vary greatly when encountering an acute dancing injury compared to a non-traumatic overuse injury. It is the clinician's responsibility to learn the risk factors involved in foot/ankle injuries and provide education to the dancer. In this webinar, Michelle Green-Smerdon explores risk factors, barriers, performance potential, and expected psychological and pain responses in dancers. She also offers practical foot/ankle injury management tips.
