Where did you go to university/college?
I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.
Where do you work?
King’s College Hospital London, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
Describe your role:
As part of the commissioning team for the new King’s College Hospital London in Jeddah, I am responsible for establishing and implementing robust policies and procedures for the Department of Physiotherapy. My focus is on ensuring operational excellence by optimising workflows, enhancing patient safety and improving overall department efficiency. I also focus on fostering interdepartmental collaborations with different units to facilitate seamless patient transitions and optimise the delivery of physiotherapy services across the hospital.
My role has also involved in-depth research to develop evidence-based rehabilitation protocols to ensure that the Department of Physiotherapy delivers the highest quality of care, aligned with best practices and the latest clinical guidelines.
What is the most rewarding part of being a clinician, or working with Physiopedia?
The most rewarding part of working with the commissioning team at a new hospital is the opportunity to directly influence positive change. From actively participating in the design and implementation of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to map out patient flow pathways. I, alongside my colleagues, have been empowered to leverage our collective experiences to enhance and improve the quality of physiotherapy services delivered within our new hospital.
Similarly, working with Physiopedia has proven to be an immensely rewarding endeavour. The knowledge that millions of individuals worldwide rely on Physiopedia for readily accessible, current and accurate information is very rewarding. Being a content editor at Physiopedia allows me to leave a lasting positive impact on the global physiotherapy community.
What are some of the more challenging aspects about your work?
I think finding the time to balance my full-time job with Physiopedia work has proven to be a challenge.
What are some of your professional passions?
I have found great interest and passion in research. Whilst I also love the clinical aspects of working as a physiotherapist, I would like to step my foot in the world of clinical research.
What are a few of your personal passions?
Living by the Red Sea comes with its perks, I love scuba diving, hiking, powerlifting and more recently I started running.
What would be your advice to a newly graduating physiotherapist or professional?
Embrace the journey. Be open to learning from all experiences and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I would like to continue my education where I hope to seek an MSc degree. I would also like to have a role that allows me to work clinically with patients but also engage in research.
What are the best things about being part of the Physiopedia team?
Undoubtedly connecting with a diverse group of rehab professionals from all around the world.
How has being a Physiopedia team member helped your professional development/career progression?
As we always strive to provide the latest up-to-date evidence in our Physiopedia pages, this has helped me tremendously with my clinical practice. Having to dedicate time to edit pages on Physiopedia helps me grow my knowledge and stay up to date with new research in various different topics and specialities.
What are your hopes and aspirations for Physiopedia?
I hope Physiopedia continues to be a reliable source for rehabilitation professionals worldwide.
