This course is part of a programme:

Introduction

Home-based rehabilitation is a practical, functional option for knee arthroplasty patients, allowing providers to address real-world challenges in patients' living environments. However, treating people at home has limitations, including a lack of standard equipment and difficult spaces to navigate. Rehabilitation professionals must be creative, use available home resources, and ensure functional mobility is central to care plans. This course outlines exercise and mobility progressions for the later weeks of standard home-based care programmes.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • identify major evidence gaps in knee arthroplasty rehabilitation procotols and key programme goals
  • select appropriate exercise progressions for patients following knee arthroplasty in simple case scenarios
  • discuss the use and benefits of adjunctive treatment interventions for patients post-knee arthroplasty, including cryotherapy, continuous passive motion (CPM), and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES)

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
