Introduction

Physical dysfunction due to acute, chronic, or degenerative conditions can significantly impact a person's independence and quality of life. Rehabilitation can play a vital role in enhancing their ability to perform daily activities and participate meaningfully in their community. In this course, we explore how rehabilitation interventions can positively impact self-care abilities and community participation and highlight the role of different rehabilitation professionals using real-world examples and evidence-based strategies.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • describe the concepts of self-care and community participation in rehabilitation
  • identify how different health conditions (acute, chronic, and degenerative) can impact an individual's ability to engage in self-care activities and participate in the community
  • differentiate between rehabilitation team members, highlighting their unique roles in enhancing self-care and participation

Target audience

This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Doctors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Psychologists, Audiologists, Dietetics, Social Workers. Community Health Workers, Nurses or Medical Doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
