Meet our Digital Designer and Front-End Developer, who has been turning ideas into engaging digital experiences since joining us in late 2021. Working remotely from locations around the globe this creative professional combines technical expertise with artistic vision to make Physiopedia’s educational resources more accessible and visually compelling. Let’s discover more about the person behind the designs that help bring our platform to life.
Time active with Physiopedia: I started working with Tony and Rachael and the whole Physiopedia team at the end of 2021.
Current role with Physiopedia: Digital Designer and Front-End Developer.
Where did you go to university/college? I studied Digital Media at Media Design School in Auckland, New Zealand.
Where do you work? I’ve been travelling the world with my wife and daughter for the past couple of years, so I actually work all over the place! I’m currently working on Physiopedia projects from Taipei, Taiwan.
Describe your role: I’m a digital designer. I see my role as the person who brings ideas to life! That might be through user interfaces for websites and applications, or through print, illustration, video or front-end development.
What is the most rewarding part of working with Physiopedia? For me, the most rewarding part is knowing that the work we do through Physiopedia and Physiopedia Plus has a real impact all around the world. Physiopedia makes knowledge and resources accessible to people everywhere, and it’s exciting to contribute to something that helps others learn and grow in their profession.
What are some of the more challenging aspects about your work? One of the more challenging aspects for me in my role is print and illustration work. It’s not something that comes as naturally to me, and there always seems to be a lot of it, so getting started can feel like a hurdle. That said, once I get going, I really enjoy the process and the results.
What are some of your professional passions? I’m passionate about turning ideas into experiences people can see, use and enjoy. I love combining creativity with technical problem-solving to design interfaces and systems that are both visually engaging and easy to use.
What are a few of your personal passions? My personal passions include spending time with my wife and daughter, travelling and exploring new places, enjoying good food and exercising. Working remotely allows me to do plenty of this!
What would be your advice to a newly graduating physiotherapist or professional? In my line of work, my advice would be to keep playing and experimenting, stay curious and always look at other inspiring work around you. It’s the best way to keep your creativity high and your ideas fresh.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 5 years, I see us settled back home in New Zealand. By then, my daughter will be close to starting school, so life will revolve a lot around her, as well as family and friends. I’m really looking forward to seeing her grow and being there for those moments.
What are the best things about being part of the Physiopedia team? The best thing about being part of the team is the sense of connection and collaboration. Even though we’re spread across different countries and time zones, the weekly catch-ups with the tech team create a supportive environment that feels much more like working alongside colleagues than freelancing on your own.
How has being a Physiopedia team member helped your professional development/career progression? Being part of the Physiopedia team has helped me grow by taking on new challenges and improving my technical and creative skills. I have loved learning to collaborate with this global team.
What are your hopes and aspirations for Physiopedia? My hope is that Physiopedia continues to grow as a trusted global resource while embracing new technologies. The shift into AI is especially exciting, and I love the direction it’s heading, creating opportunities to reach more people, share knowledge in new ways and make learning even more accessible.
What is your favourite Plus course? I don’t have a favourite yet, as I’ve only completed a few for testing purposes. That said, I’m sure they’re all valuable in their own ways, and I’m looking forward to exploring more of them properly.
