The complete Knee Arthroplasty Rehabilitation Programme on Plus changes that. This 4-course series led by experienced clinicians Robert Finch and Joretha Steyn covers every stage of rehabilitation from prehabilitation through to home-based recovery and offers clinicians practical, evidence-informed content that translates directly into patient care.

Knee arthroplasty is one of the most commonly performed orthopaedic procedures worldwide, yet the quality of rehabilitation before and after surgery can vary enormously. The new Knee Arthroplasty Rehabilitation Programme on Plus is a four-course series designed to equip clinicians with the practical knowledge and skills needed to support people through every stage of this significant surgical journey.

The programme is led by two experienced instructors whose backgrounds complement each other well. Robert Finch is a physical therapist whose career spans athletics, orthopaedics and rehabilitation protocol development. Joretha Steyn is a physiotherapist with nearly two decades of clinical experience, specialising in orthopaedic rehabilitation and neuromusculoskeletal therapy. Together, they bring both breadth and depth to the content, grounding each course in real-world practice rather than theory alone.

Since the launch, the programme has already attracted more than 720 participants. It begins with Total Knee Arthroplasty Prehabilitation and Surgical Impact on Rehabilitation. This opening course sets the foundation by addressing the wide scope of total knee replacement protocols and the influence of surgical factors on recovery. Practitioners new to this area have found it particularly valuable, noting that the practical videos serve as useful tools for patient education and clinical learning.

From there, the programme moves into home-based rehabilitation, where many clinicians work with people following knee arthroplasty. The second course Knee Arthroplasty Home-Based Rehabilitation Evaluation focuses on early post-operative assessment and treatment planning. Patients increasingly have shorter hospital stays after knee arthroplasty, potentially returning home on day one post-surgery. Research shows that home-based rehabilitation is cost-effective and produces similar patient outcomes as clinic settings. Participants have reported that the course has changed the way they structure their practice.

“the content is applicable across a range of settings, from hospital-based care through to subacute rehabilitation and home physiotherapy”.

The third course Knee Arthroplasty Home-Based Initial Management covers practical interventions for the early post-operative period, with particular emphasis on exercises and patient guidance. The fourth and final course Knee Arthroplasty Home-Based Management Progression supports clinicians in advancing rehabilitation towards functional recovery.

Taken together, the four courses create a coherent clinical pathway from pre-surgical optimisation through to independent function at home. The practical video content throughout the programme has been consistently highlighted by participants as one of its strongest features, making complex rehabilitation concepts accessible and directly transferable to patient care. The full programme is available to healthcare professionals through a Plus subscription.
