Introduction
Running is a popular and accessible sports activity enjoyed by people worldwide. It is a good form of exercise, leading to physical fitness and a healthier lifestyle. However, runners frequently experience running-related injuries, especially from overuse. Approximately 70% - 80% of running-related injuries are due to overuse injuries. These injuries can affect a runner's enjoyment of exercise, have financial implications and may cause a runner to stop running. Physiotherapists often treat runners, so they need to be aware of the effect of running-related injuries due to overuse. They must also know how to properly assess and rehabilitate these injuries and help runners get back to doing what they love.
Aims
This course aims to provide insight into the assessment of overuse injuries in runners and to introduce a valuable new tool that can be used to assess and monitor overuse injuries.
