Introduction
Neuroimaging produces images of brain structure or activity for diagnosing disease, assessing brain health, and conducting research. While rehabilitation professionals rarely request imaging directly, they frequently encounter results in patient records. Understanding neuroimaging and neurodiagnostic techniques significantly enhances treatment evaluation, adaptation, and collaboration with medical colleagues, supporting informed clinical decision making and improved patient outcomes. This course explores neuroimaging techniques, including CT and MRI scans, EEG, and nerve conduction studies commonly encountered in rehabilitation practice.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- differentiate between common neuroimaging techniques, including computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET), single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), cerebral angiography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- describe the clinical applications of electroencephalography (EEG) and nerve conduction studies in rehabilitation practice

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
