Finding the right course to do next should not be the hardest part of continuing professional development, but for many physiotherapists it is. Physiopedia Plus (Plus) has launched a course recommender powered by the Physiopedia AI Assistant (PAI) that asks you a few short questions and matches you to courses suited to where you actually are, with results you can add to your To Do list in one click.
If you have ever opened a course library and felt mildly overwhelmed, you are not alone. With over 800 accredited courses on Plus, the challenge is rarely access to content. It is knowing where to start, or what to tackle next given everything else going on in your clinical life. Trending course lists can help with initial discovery, but they reflect what is popular across the whole community, not what is right for you specifically. A physiotherapist returning to practice after a career break has different priorities to a newly qualified clinician building foundational knowledge, or an experienced practitioner preparing for a specialist role.
The course recommender is built around that reality. Rather than presenting you with what is popular, PAI asks about:
- What topic or clinical area are you focused on right now?
- How would you describe your current level, and where are you trying to get to?
- What is driving your decision to learn?
- Do you have any preference for course length or depth?
Using your answers alongside your completed course history, PAI suggests courses matched to where you are and where you are heading. Each recommendation includes a brief explanation of why it fits your situation, and you can add any or all of them to your To Do list straight from the conversation.
To try it, login and go to the Courses page and click the “Get a recommendation” button at the top. The whole process takes less than a minute. You can also access this via the Recommendations page.
If you work in a team or organisation using Plus for CPD compliance or structured staff development, this is worth exploring with your colleagues too. Helping each person identify the right next step, rather than pointing everyone to the same course list, makes a real difference to how useful a CPD platform feels in practice.
The course recommender is part of a broader shift in how PAI is being woven into the Plus experience. Earlier this year we shared how AI learning activities are now embedded directly into courses themselves, with PAI acting as a thinking partner during case studies, knowledge checks and post-course reflection. The recommender extends that same principle to the moment before a course begins. Rather than AI being something you seek out separately, it is becoming part of the natural flow of learning on the platform, helping you choose well, engage deeply and reflect meaningfully on what you have learned.
As with everything PAI does, the recommender draws exclusively on Physiopedia’s evidence-based content, so every suggestion is grounded in the same trusted knowledge base that underpins the platform, not the open internet. Log in, head to the Courses page, and let PAI help you work out what to learn next.
PAI is a professional development/educational tool for qualified physiotherapy professionals and students, built on Physiopedia's evidence-based knowledge base. It is not a medical device and does not provide clinical diagnoses, treatment recommendations, or advice about individual patients. All information provided requires your independent professional judgement before any application to practice.
