What does it actually feel like to learn alongside an AI? For the 2,300+ healthcare professionals who’ve completed courses in the Optimising Function Through Rehabilitation Programme, the answer has been surprisingly practical, and genuinely useful in clinic.
Every one of the nine courses in the Optimising Function Through Rehabilitation Programme launched on Physiopedia Plus (Plus) this month features a PAI learning activity. Designed not as a novelty, but to match the clinical reasoning demands of each topic. The activities guide learners through realistic scenarios, case-based simulations, socratic teaching and patient education simulations, all tailored to their profession and clinical context.
More than 2,300 healthcare professionals have participated across the programme since launch, and the response to the optional PAI activities and Knowledge Checks has been genuinely encouraging, particularly given that engagement with both is entirely voluntary.

Across the nine courses, covering everything from cardiorespiratory rehabilitation and pain management to nutrition and dysphagia, mental function, and hearing and communication, participants consistently highlighted the PAI activities as standout elements of their learning experience. The conversational, guided questioning approach appears to resonate particularly well, helping practitioners move from course content into genuine clinical application.
