Introduction
Mental functions, which include cognitive, basic and emotional functions, shape our day-to-day life and a person's overall health and rehabilitation journey. Healthcare professionals must be able to recognise when patients are experiencing challenges in these areas and take appropriate steps to ensure prompt support. This course presents practical rehabilitation strategies to support cognitive, basic, and emotional functions, focusing on memory impairments, sleep disturbances, emotional distress, anxiety and low mood.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- describe the three categories of mental functions (cognitive, basic, and emotional) and their impact on rehabilitation outcomes
- discuss at least three rehabilitation strategies to help address memory impairment, sleep disruption, emotional distress, anxiety, and low mood
Target audience
This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Doctors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Psychologists, Audiologists, Dietetics, Social Workers. Community Health Workers, Nurses or Medical Doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
