Introduction

Regulatory systems seek to promote positive outcomes for patients accessing rehabilitation services. They help ensure that rehabilitation professionals meet training requirements and consistently adhere to educational, ethical and professional standards. While regulatory approaches vary between countries and disciplines, they share a common purpose: safeguarding patient health by promoting professionalism and preventing harm.

This course explores key regulatory documents that help rehabilitation professionals maintain high standards of practice and ethical, patient-centred care.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • differentiate between the four key regulatory documents (Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, Standards of Practice, and Scope of Practice), including their distinct purposes, structures, and applications in guiding professional behaviour in rehabilitation practice
