Introduction
Around 20% of people aged over 50 years have oedema. If left untreated, lower extremity oedema can cause discomfort and pain, limit mobility, affect circulation, and predispose a person to wound development.
Compression therapy is a powerful intervention to decrease oedema and pain, improve circulation and tissue oxygenation, and promote wound healing. This course provides an overview of the mechanisms of compression therapy. It discusses clinical guidelines and explores compression therapy options for patient care. It also includes video demonstrations of compression system applications.
