Introduction

Rehabilitation professionals often engage in teaching colleagues, other professionals and patients, their families or caregivers. When training adults, it is crucial to understand that they have diverse learning profiles and styles and different approaches to mastering techniques, assessment protocols, and therapeutic interventions. Effective trainers provide diverse methods and practical tools while creating supportive learning environments that apply adult learning principles specifically to clinical rehabilitation contexts. For rehabilitation educators to do this effectively, they should understand their own clinical learning style, as it influences how they demonstrate and teach therapeutic techniques.

This course, the first in a three-part series, covers individual learning profiles among rehabilitation professionals, adult learning principles applied to clinical skill acquisition, and practical strategies for creating effective learning environments in rehabilitation settings.
