Introduction
Artificial intelligence (AI) has many potential applications in health professions education, from generating learning materials to providing student feedback and assisting with assessments. Incorporating AI tools into academic programmes creates opportunities for educators to develop new teaching strategies and deliver personalised, diversified learning experiences for students. While there are many possibilities, there are also specific considerations when adopting AI tools in an academic setting. This course explores how educators and students can effectively integrate AI into learning, teaching and assessment.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- discuss the potential of AI-supported teaching methods in health professions education, with a focus on generating personalised learning materials and providing timely feedback
- explain how AI-informed assessment strategies and feedback can shift from traditional paradigms to more authentic, continuous and adaptive approaches, while maintaining academic integrity and fostering critical thinking skills
- identify at least three risks of integrating AI into health professions education and strategies to improve its implementation
Target audience
This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Doctors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Psychologists, Audiologists, Dietetics, Social Workers. Community Health Workers, Nurses or Medical Doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate./p>
