Introduction
Moving and handling is a core activity for most rehabilitation professionals. Patients who have difficulty moving may require assistance, ranging from verbal encouragement to using electric hoisting equipment. Every moving and handling situation has a degree of risk for the patient and the rehabilitation professional. This course outlines which assessments rehabilitation professionals should complete before a moving and handling task. It also explores ways to enhance patient and clinician safety during moving and handling tasks, including positioning, transferring and mobilising patients.
Aims
This course aims to provide foundational knowledge of patient assessment to guide decisions around safety during moving and handling tasks.

This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Doctors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Psychologists, Audiologists, Dietetics, Social Workers. Community Health Workers, Nurses or Medical Doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
