Introduction
Body awareness is an approach often used within rehabilitation for individuals with persistent / complex pain and / or psychosomatic / psychiatric conditions. It explores and uses the mind-body-(spirit) connection to develop a more positive experience of the body and self by reflecting on our bodily experiences. This course introduces body awareness as a strategy for survivors of trauma. It also explores barriers to healthcare which may impact survivors of trauma.
Aims
This course aims to explore the role of body awareness as a strategy to regulate the nervous systems of people who have experienced trauma.

This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Doctors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Psychologists, Audiologists, Dietetics, Social Workers. Community Health Workers, Nurses or Medical Doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
