Introduction
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common chronic health condition. It can cause pain, decreased function, poor sleep, decreased mental health and reduced quality of life. It is also associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension and mortality. Rehabilitation strategies for osteoarthritis include education, exercise therapy and weight management. The general impact of these treatments on pain and disability can be significant, and their associated costs are not high. This course offers foundational insights into osteoarthritis, covering its epidemiology, risk factors, and pathology, before considering diagnosis and management trends.

At the end of this course you will be able to:
- identify two reasons why the prevalence of osteoarthritis is increasing, at least four risk factors for osteoarthritis, its basic pathology and key clinical and radiographic features
