Introduction

Effective evaluation of the foot and ankle includes identifying red flags, performing reliable clinical tests, and developing sound clinical reasoning skills for common foot and ankle conditions, such as sprains, tendinopathies, nerve compression, and syndesmotic injuries. This comprehensive course offers a systematic approach to foot and ankle assessment, from initial history-taking to specialised testing.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • describe a systematic subjective examination of patients presenting with foot and ankle complaints
  • discuss comprehensive objective assessments for the foot and ankle complex
  • explain a selection of appropriate special tests to assess specific foot and ankle pathologies, including ligamentous injuries, tendinopathies, syndesmotic sprains, and nerve compressions

Target audience

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
