Introduction

Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries require extensive rehabilitation, yet there are no universally accepted protocols to guide clinicians. This course explores the evidence and clinical reasoning behind PCL reconstruction rehabilitation. It covers key principles, bracing strategies, phased rehabilitation, and return-to-sport criteria. It aims to provide a practical framework with realistic timeframes that you can adapt when designing rehabilitation plans for your patients.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • discuss PCL anatomy and function, and PCL injury mechanisms and presentations
  • identify important clinical tests used to assess for PCL and associated injuries
  • explain the key principles and phases of rehabilitation following PCL reconstruction

Target audience

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
