Introduction

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) is a comprehensive tool that has many uses in clinical practice. It views functioning, disability, and health from a holistic perspective. Through the ICF, health professionals can look at many aspects of a person, including their health condition, body functions and structures, activities and participation, and contextual factors. The holistic nature of the ICF helps health professionals be more informed in their assessments, develop more effective interventions, and achieve good patient outcomes. This course discusses the practical application of the ICF. It provides an overview of clinical forms and an explanation of ICF cross-walking to existing clinical instruments.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • differentiate the components of the ICF
  • discuss the ICF Core Sets
