Introduction

Evidence-based practice and its different domains can feel daunting for many rehabilitation professionals. We tend to be well-trained and comfortable considering our patients' preferences and values and trust our clinical expertise, but often, the research domain causes uncertainty. However, we still need to consider and apply all the different domains of evidence-based practice to ensure the best possible outcome for every patient. This course highlights the different steps of the evidence-based practice model and its challenges and benefits.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • describe the different domains of the revised model of evidence-based practice developed by Satterfield et al. (2009)
  • choose the appropriate step to follow in the evidence-based practice model based on case-based scenarios
  • identify the applications, challenges and advantages of evidence-based practice
