Introduction

Professionalism in rehabilitation and healthcare is one of the cornerstones of efficient, compassionate and ethical practice. Professionalism helps cultivate a culture of respect and trust within the workplace. Patient-centred care, responsibility and accountability of the rehabilitation professional, ethical practice and efficient time and resource management all form part of professionalism. This course overviews these elements.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • compare the concepts of professional responsibility and accountability in healthcare
  • discuss the benefits and core elements of patient-centred care in professional practice and key ethical considerations in the workplace and research environments
  • propose strategies for effective time and resource management in healthcare settings

Target audience

This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Doctors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Psychologists, Audiologists, Dietetics, Social Workers. Community Health Workers, Nurses or Medical Doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.

  • Hours of Learning - No deadlines are applied to this course and it can be started and completed in your own time according to your personal schedule. We expect the required elements to take around 1-1.5 hours depending on your schedule and learning style.
