This course explores rehabilitation and assistive technology needs across the lifespan, highlighting early intervention advantages and evolving requirements through healthcare phases. It addresses common misconceptions limiting access and empowers healthcare professionals to identify intervention needs, make timely referrals, and improve patient outcomes.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- describe how rehabilitation interventions and assistive products support functioning across five key life stages: birth, early childhood, school years, adulthood, and older adulthood
- identify common misconceptions about rehabilitation and assistive products that can limit access to these essential services
- explain how rehabilitation and assistive technology needs evolve across different phases of healthcare, from acute to subacute, long-term, and palliative care
- discuss indicators for timely referral to rehabilitation and assistive technology services, and the impact of early intervention on health outcomes

This course is aimed at rehabilitation professionals, students and assistants including but not limited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Doctors, Rehabilitation Nurses, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Psychologists, Audiologists, Dietetics, Social Workers. Community Health Workers, Nurses or Medical Doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
