Physiopedia 2025 year in review: Reaching every corner of the globe

2025 has been a remarkable year for Physiopedia, with users from 246 countries and territories worldwide accessing nearly 6,000 pages of evidence-based content. That’s 63 million page views from our 29 million active users, and we are grateful for every one of you.

This is always a favourite time of year for us at Physiopedia as we review the last 12 months and take time to celebrate all that our global community has achieved. With 29 million active users of Physiopedia in 2025, there’s a lot to celebrate!

We have a huge knowledge base of 5,843 Physiopedia pages available free all over the globe. It is always interesting to see which pages are the most read by our community and in 2025 these included:

• Shoulder Special Tests
• American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale
• Hip Flexors
• Range of Motion Normative Values

All these pages are maintained and updated thanks to our incredible team of volunteer editors who have collectively made 375,532 updates this year. They make sure that Physiopedia content remains up-to-date and evidence-based by searching for and appraising new research to update Physiopedia pages, for example on exercise for knee osteoarthritis and step count targets. As well as scouring the landscape for new research our volunteer editors focus their efforts by selecting a relevant topic each month to update, and this year they have covered some important clinical areas such as wrist and hand assessments, injuries and rehabilitation techniques, neuroscience, goniometry and the evolving practice of electrotherapy – bringing updates and improvements to pages that practitioners rely on daily. On top of that, Physiopedia content is used by the Physiopedia AI Assistant (PAI), which is the only AI that is able to exclusively use the massive and constantly evolving Physiopedia knowledge database. During 2025 we have celebrated several Physiopedia superstars through our monthly Physiopedia Top Contributor programme and annual awards programme – this is our chance to recognise the people who go above and beyond to keep Physiopedia at the forefront of physiotherapy education and practice. The global reach of Physiopedia sees the international reach covering all inhabited locations on the globe, with 2025 seeing traffic to Physiopedia from 246 states and territories. Our top ten countries span continents, with the United States, India and the United Kingdom leading engagement with Physiopedia content, whilst Hong Kong, Vietnam, Australia, Canada, Philippines, Türkiye and Brazil rounding out this diverse group. This global footprint demonstrates how essential evidence-based physiotherapy knowledge has become to practitioners everywhere and we are committed to continuing to provide free access to the Physiopedia database for all.

Research remained at the heart of our mission this year too. The team delivered six presentations at major international conferences, including the ISPO World Congress in Sweden, Collaborating Across Borders IX in the United States and the World Physiotherapy Congress in Japan. Two peer-reviewed journal publications have been released, with eight more under review and additional studies underway. This academic work, led by our dedicated research team, ensures Physiopedia remains grounded in the latest evidence whilst contributing new knowledge to the rehabilitation community. Conferences provided valuable opportunities to connect with the broader rehabilitation community. Our team attended the Combined Sections Meeting in the United States, the World Physiotherapy Congress in Japan, the ISPO World Congress in Sweden and the CSP conference in the UK, strengthening relationships and sharing Physiopedia’s vision for accessible, evidence-based education with practitioners and researchers from around the world.

Our international development work to bring education to underserved regions has continued this year through collaborations with Rehab4U and the World Health Organization (WHO). Over 5000 people in Ukraine were given access to Physiopedia Plus (Plus), earning 16,465 course completion certificates and 21,374.95 CPD points, demonstrating the role accessible education plays in supporting healthcare workers during challenging times. In collaboration with WHO the Plus “Creating Awareness of Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Programme” and “Optimising Function Through Rehabilitation Programme” were made available to all, plus our continued work to develop the Learning on TAP website for WHO further extended our commitment to building rehabilitation capacity globally.

As we reflect on 2025, we celebrate not just the numbers but the people behind them. Every page view represents a clinician seeking answers and every edit reflects an expert sharing knowledge. From our 29 million active users to our dedicated team of editors and researchers, Physiopedia’s success is built on collaboration that transcends borders, languages and barriers to education. The year ahead promises continued innovation and impact as we advance rehabilitation practice worldwide.
