Introduction

Building on the foundational concepts introduced in the Pain Neuroscience Education Explained course, this course applies pain neuroscience education to clinical practice. It focuses on Mrs X, a patient presenting with a meniscus injury and a complex biopsychosocial profile. You will learn to identify pain drivers across biological, psychological, and social domains, and explore how education strategies can be integrated into rehabilitation practice.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

• identify key biological, psychological, and social drivers of pain using the biopsychosocial model
• discuss how stress, anxiety, fear-avoidance, and mood influence the central nervous system and amplify the pain experience
• select appropriate pain education strategies for patients with complex pain presentations and biopsychosocial drivers

Target audience

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.

• Hours of Learning - No deadlines are applied to this course and it can be started and completed in your own time according to your personal schedule. We expect the required elements to take around 2-2.5 hours depending on your schedule and learning style. Additionally there are many optional resources provided and if you choose to review these the course could take longer to complete.
