Introduction

Physiotherapists are often involved in the pre-season screening of athletes. The main focus of musculoskeletal screening is often to identify individuals at an increased risk of injury. However, this is not as easy as it sounds and there is no single screening test that is able to fulfil this function. At best, musculoskeletal screening can identify athletes with certain deficits who may be predisposed to injury. In this course, Lee Herrington discusses the value of using reliable and valid musculoskeletal screening tests to identify vulnerable, predisposed athletes. He also explains how screening can be used to identify an athlete's degree of vulnerability if he or she is subjected to changes in load.

This course is aimed at Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy clinicians, students and assistants. Other interested professionals such as athletic trainers, occupational therapists, nurses or medical doctors interested in this subject are also invited to participate.
