Introduction
One of the goals of musculoskeletal rehabilitation is to maximise an athlete’s level of function after an injury, while also aiming to minimise the risk of reinjury or secondary injury. An in-depth assessment of the current status of the injured athlete is necessary to understand the athlete’s capability at tissue and system levels. From there, the athlete should be exposed to progressive loading of the injured tissue and global loading of the whole system. This will lead to physiological adaptations and bring an athlete closer to their performance goals. In this course, Lee Herrington discusses the principles and importance of the reloading process as it applies to sport and exercise rehabilitation.
