Introduction
The hand contains a number of joints that allow complex actions, such as manipulating, gripping and grasping objects. Optimal hand function requires adequate strength, sensation, range of motion, and dexterity. When one or more of these components are affected, an individual's participation in daily activities may be significantly impacted. However, even a partial recovery of hand function can positively impact a person's independence. This course provides a detailed discussion of the hand complex, including the bony structures, joints, ligaments, muscles, nerves and vascular supply.
