Introduction
The World Health Organization (WHO) recognises patient-centred care as a fundamental component of high-quality healthcare delivery. Patient-centred care focuses on the partnership between patients and healthcare professionals and integrates an individual’s preferences, values, and beliefs into health decision-making. It enables patients to make informed and active choices about their treatment. Its collaborative approach helps ensure that treatment plans are appropriate and meaningful to the patient.
This course provides an overview of patient-centred care, focusing on key principles and methods to facilitate this approach. Through a detailed case study discussion, you will see how patient-centred care can be implemented and its many benefits for patients.
