We love to celebrate the achievements of our team, and we are thrilled to spotlight Plus instructor Dr Patricia Saleeby, whose groundbreaking work in disability rights was recently featured in Washington University Magazine.
Her work has been driven by her understanding that diagnosis is not everything, and a desire to recognise that two people with the same diagnosis may face very different challenges. Her own research led her to collaborate with the World Health Organization (WHO) on a classification system to complement the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and to provide context – to fill the gap in addressing how health conditions affect daily life and functioning. And so the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) was born!
