Introduction

“We do not learn from experience…we learn from reflecting on experience” - John Dewey

To be effective in their role, formal and informal leaders need to assess the situation, choose the appropriate leadership approach, implement this approach, and then reflect on and learn from this experience. Without reflection, leaders may be at risk of making poor decisions, repeating mistakes, and struggling to lead in unfamiliar situations. This course, the last in a four-part series on leading in rehabilitation, explores three frameworks that leaders can use to guide reflection and the benefits of reflective practice for leaders.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • explain the concept of reflection
